Football FanCast columnist Jordan Chambers fears United have taken the most calculated of risks in not securing a deal for Carlos Tevez.

If I had to criticise one thing about Manchester United then it is our inability to keep business in house. Whether we are targeting players, looking to sell them on or simply contract disputes it is all played out within the media. At times I don't believe it shows us in a very good light and I guess we are therefore open to any such criticism that comes our way.

You can forgive Martin O'Neill for revealing that he woke up feeling optimistic Sunday morning. I think most Villa fans, heartened by our early season form, felt we could go to Stamford Bridge and get something from the game. It didn't happen and that has to go down as the biggest 2-0 thrashing I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing.

I'm sure there isn't a Liverpool fan out there that hasn't got the wryest of smiles across their faces this morning. Who can blame them - yesterday's second half performance and result did little else but make the Premier League take note that this Liverpool side is going places and a title challenge that once seemed unrealistic, could now be a guaranteed certainty.
