I'm all for transfer windows, but I think the most annoying thing about the whole process is transfer deadline day. I've been glued to the internet, my mobile phone, Sky Sports News and any other media source I could find, simply to find out what Manchester City were up to.

On Saturday evening, I went to the North West Masters. If you were there, or happened to watch it on Sky Sports, you'll have seen some terrific football, and a cracking atmosphere - helped significantly by a large group of jovial Oldham fans. And it was that night that made me see exactly why the full version of football is the best game in the world and why it doesn't seem to push the right buttons for most Americans.
