England PodJockey Mike Adams, feels that West Bromwich Albion have been living proof that you don't need to play route one to get out of the Championship and feels the tactics deployed by Mowbray will give the Baggies a greater chance to stay in the Premier League.

The issue of the gap in standards between the Premiership and Championship has been rumbling for a while now and after watching West Brom all season, I have come to a conclusion that the problem is mainly down to the Championship sides themselves, rather than the rich greedy Premiership bullies to which the ills of the world are regularly attributed.

Following the debacle at Wembley last night; the nation awakes this morning with the feeling, "Where did it all go wrong?". England PodJockey Mike is convinced the problem is deep rooted and one visit to a kids Saturday morning game best highlights his point.

Last night was awful. There is no avoiding it and no denying it; the team and the tactics were just not up to the challenge. I find it hard to believe that there are no English players that can control a football and then pass it to one of their own players which seemed an impossible task against the Croatians. If nothing else, the situation that England finds itself in must provoke a serious re think in how the mentality of our footballers is cultivated.

Taxi for McClaren

Steve McClaren has been sacked. Not the biggest shock of the year as it had to happen. Who next then? Personally I'd quite like Hiddink or Shearer.

England PodJockey Mike feels that should England win or lose tonight; a change in personnel is definitely required.

As the dust settles on England's Euro 2008 qualifying campaign there is no better time to start looking at the make up of the future senior England squad.

One issue that has begun to gnaw away at myself and my fellow England pod jockeys is the continual inclusion of players that will never make an impact at international level. In short, I'm talking about the dead wood of English international football.
