Football FanCast columnist Jerome Johnstone is in no doubt that Liverpool need to sign a winger this summer and has
compiled his short list.
If
there is one thing that has become abundantly clear about Liverpool in the past
few years is that we have continually lacked natural width.
It
has certainly not been the want of trying and over the years we have seen many attempts
to fill the void, but to no avail and we are constantly left to make do with makeshift
alternatives like Stevie G or in recent months Dirk Kuyt. It has been holding us
back that is without question and it is high time that Liverpool sorted out if
we want to move on to the desired level.
Football
FanCast columnist Jerome
Johnstone cannot understand what gives Robin Van Persie
the right to issue an ultimatum.
I have always found International football something of an
enigma and never really bought into the hype and circus that seems to surround
it. Games are rarely good, refereeing tends to be abysmal and it normally only
takes 20 odd minutes before you start to channel hop.
Football
FanCast columnist Jerome
Johnstone looks at
the tough decision facing Aaron Ramsey and wonders which club will prove the
best move for the Welsh wonderkid.
I wonder how Aaron Ramsey is feeling this morning. 17yrs old,
just out of school, and you have three of England's great football clubs after
your signature - can life get any better?
Football
FanCast columnist Jerome
Johnstone wonders if it will actually be a bad thing to
scrap the transfer market.
You may love or loath Arsene Wenger, but you definitely
respect him. The Frenchman is one of the games visionaries and when he makes
statements, you tend to stand up and take notice. His views this morning that
we are heading for a meltdown within the transfer market may seem somewhat farfetched,
but on closer inspection it is surely only a matter of time.
Football FanCast columnist Jerome Johnstone looks at the rumours surrounding
Xabi Alonso and feels that Liverpool would be crazy to let him go.
If there
is one thing that I have always thought about Rafa Benitez, then it is to
expect the unexpected. Whether it team selection, formations in play or
transfer targets, I really struggle to work him out. This is by no means a
slight on the Spaniard, because I feel he has certainly the right man for the
job but I have to say I am somewhat baffled at the possible move of Xabi Alonso
to Juventus.
