Myers mulls over the daily rumours and rumblings
Can someone please tell me what the deal is with Samir Nasri -
is he signing or is he not? There is so little transparency with regards to
this transfer that it does make you wonder if Arsenal are about to be gazumped at
the last knockings - I mean it certainly wouldn't be the first time a club has
been used by a player to broker a move elsewhere.
There is no question that the Marseille star will be a fabulous addition to the Emirates, but there must come a time that even the most patient of men like Wenger says enough is enough and move on. If the player had a true desire to join the football club then surely it would have been done and dusted by now; given that Marseille have given Nasri freedom to leave. It may just me being overly sceptical, but I have seen it all before.
If the Nasri transfer does fail to materialise then there are plenty alternatives out on the market. One such player is David Silva; a player of immense ability and has the flexibility to play a variety of roles and who according to the Sun this morning are looking closely at the player, as a possible replacement for Barca bound Alexander Hleb or dare I say an alternative if the Nasri deal falls through.
Personally I feel it would be an excellent signing for Arsenal as the Spaniard would give Wenger an embarrassment of options. Like Nasri he can simply play anywhere across the midfield or play in the hole behind a front man. I have been hugely impressed with him in the Euro Championships and intrigued to see how well he links up with both Cesc and of course another reported Arsenal target David Villa. It does make you wonder if Adebayor does move on to Barca, whether Wenger should look to produce a double raid on Valencia.
So what do Arsenal fans think about the whole Nasri deal - is there reason for concern? Would David Silva be an excellent alternative or should Arsenal look to bring in both?
