Football
FanCast columnist Jerome
Johnstone looks
back at the great cup finals of yesteryear and wonders which one has the right
to be considered the greatest in modern times.
It used to be one of the greatest days in football and the
showpiece of the English game. You use to get up at 8am and you will have
extensive coverage from the build up, from players having breakfast, getting on
the coach and the trip to Wembley.
Football
FanCast columnist Jim McKendry is delighted that Harry Redknapp has finally
got his hands on some silverware.
If there was a man in football more deserving of a cup final
success than Harry Redknapp, then I haven't met them. One of the games great characters,
a dying breed in the modern era, has seen one of the rollercoaster seasons of
his life end in triumph and I generally hope that is not the last we see of him
in the game.
Football
FanCast columnist Davis
Lowe wonders if the rigid wage
structure at both Spurs and Arsenal is holding them back.
Having spent a great part of my life in the US, I know all
about the realities of overpaid Sportsmen. When Alex Rodriguez left Tom Hicks
Texas Rangers for the Yankees, the 10yr contract he signed was worth a reported
$275m. A-Rod is the Wayne Rooney of baseball and his presence at the Yankees
will generally assure them of them playoffs each season, not to mention the
huge funds from shirt sales and his merchandise in the club shops. The deal
though excessive will more than pay for itself in time.

Football FanCast
columnist Rob Facey cant believe that the build up to the
Champions League Final is being hijacked by selfish players on the lookout for
a pay rise next season by fuelling transfer rumours.
Football in 2008 is a very different beast compared to
yesteryear, but surely some things must remain sacred. But, according to two of
the Premier League's star performers, the Champions League final is no longer
one of them.
Football FanCast columnist David
Mooney has just remembered why he
loves Manchester City football club.
You know, now that I've calmed
down I've been able to see why I am a City fan. Sunday's result needed me to
take a long time out to calm down, especially as I'd labelled Middlesbrough, on
that very morning, one of the worst football clubs to have continuously
survived in the Premiership. And my lord, they rammed those words back down my
throat.
Football FanCast
columnist Rob Facey looks ahead to Saturday's FA Cup final and
wonders who will be leaving Wembley with the famous trophy.
The FA Cup Final is the most famous day in the English
football calendar and although tomorrows contest will feature clubs from
outside the top four for the first time in over a decade, the game promises to
deliver to football fans everywhere.
