You can forgive Martin O'Neill for revealing that he
woke up feeling optimistic Sunday morning. I think most Villa fans, heartened
by our early season form, felt we could go to Stamford Bridge and get something
from the game. It didn't happen and that has to go down as the biggest 2-0
thrashing I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing.

If Manchester United's victory in the Champions
League proved anything, then it is that English football is back up as the best
in Europe. Three teams in the semis, Arsenal in the quarters; it was fantastic
