Why Spurs boss should put his faith in the boy from the valleys

Football FanCast guest columnist Rhys Thomas believes that Ramos should put full faith in his boy from the valleys.

As Juande Ramos signings go he must certainly have been considered the most understated, but I just wonder if he is the one to take Tottenham by storm. I'm sure not many supporters are yet of aware of the potential and abilities of Chris Gunter, but believe me this guy is some player.

A lot has been made about Aaron Ramsey, but you ask my fellow Cardiff fans who is the greater loss and they will pinpoint Chris Gunter. He was simply a sensation when he broke into the first team and his departure in January railroaded our League campaign. Gunter is a man mountain and can play anywhere across the backline and why seen by many as a full back, you feel his long term position will be at centre half.

I have followed the Gunter's career through the youth teams at Cardiff and his class has always stood out like a sore thumb. He use to read the game quicker than anyone else, is strong in the tackle and has great aerial abilities. He reminds me greatly of fellow Spurs defender Jonathon Woodgate, although it has to be said that Gunter is probably a better passer of the football.

I know there are still a lot of question marks regarding the long term fitness of Ledley King and many Spurs fans feel an experienced centre half is needed to be brought in alongside Woodgate, but I really believe that Juande Ramos should put faith in Gunter. If you are good enough, you are old enough in my opinion and although the player is yet to turn 19, he is certainly worthy of a chance. It didn't take Spurs fans that long to dispel any doubts they may have had towards Gareth Bale, despite his tender age and the fact he had only played Championship football, so they shouldn't have any with Gunter - £3m was the biggest steal of last season and I dread to think what the lad could be worth in a few years time; he is that good.

Heard great stuff about

Heard great stuff about Gunter and lets be honest he can be nbo worse than Dawson.

He has always impressed when

He has always impressed when I have seen him. I heard the same story about Cardiff fans rating him highly and hope he gets the opportunity in the first team.

Not only Gunter but Bale as

Not only Gunter but Bale as well - he will feel like a new signing this summer.

Forgot to mention I'M A

Forgot to mention I'M A COMPLETE [*@!$]

First game he played in a

First game he played in a spurs shirt was against Ronaldo and he marked him out of the game. Ronaldo did eventualy swing it for United but he had to do it by moving well away from our LB Gunter. lol if only the rest of the defence could of kept him quiet.

Cant see him ousting Alan

Cant see him ousting Alan Hutton this season.. but then again Ramos is well known for picking the best players and not the biggest or most expensive names. If he is good enough then i doubt it will go un-noticed, if he doesnt quite crack it this year then he will certainly be a main contender within a relatively short space of time.. Aside from that i firmly believe that Gareth Bale is going to prove to be one of the best players the premiership has ever seen, he simply has it all and having him back is going to improve Tottenham no end. Also that John Bostock, wow, 16 years old, he is something else, look out for him and also Tomas Pekhart is going to be a mint goal scorer too.

if this is the case, we

if this is the case, we should give him a chance, and forget about buying another centre back, and i think we only need one striker ,when the 2 go, because dos santos is going to slot right into what was keanes slot,we just need an out and out goalscorer, we still have bent, and pekhart will be given his chance, and as for defensive midfield, we possibly already have players to do the role, gilberto, huddlestone, king possibly, because he has played there before, as we all know, good news taarabt and lennon in the teams out in spain, and ramos and poyet happy with what they are showing, dos santos looking good also, setting up a goal for bent, after a through pass to him from taarabt, it looks like taarabt might be learning to pass to his team mates, and thats great news, because we spurs fans love this guy, and want to see him do well for us, and taarabt scored a good goal too, i really hope lennon comes good this season.

THIS YEAR IAM MORE EXCITED

THIS YEAR IAM MORE EXCITED THAN ANY OTHER YEAR I NO EVERY YEAR US SPURS FANS THINK THIS IS IT BUT OUR YOUNGSTERS ARE MATURING THIS YEAR AND MOST WILL BE GETTING THE KEY 21 AND THE EXPERIANCE THAT GOES WITH A FEW YEARS TO FLIGHT FOOTBALL BRINGS AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE TEAM LOOKING FITTER TOM HUDSS AND BALE TO NAME 2 HUDDS LOOKS LIKE A BLACK TARZAN AND BALE LIKE BRUCE LEE. SO LET BERBATOV GO TO FATTY ROONEY AND WE WILL KEEP FIT BENT

I watched the Wales U21 vs

I watched the Wales U21 vs England U21 match this year, where Gunter played center back for Wales. The commentators said that if Wales had won, then Gunter would have got MOTM, he was outstanding. The highlight for me was when a through ball was slid through to Walcott, and then Gunter paced him down and put in a fantastic last-ditch tackle. He's tall, Quick, Strong and can read the game fantasticly. Other young players to look out for, Perkhart, Dervitte, David Hutton, Danny Rose and new lad John Bostock. They all look superb when I've seen them play. Off topic a bit, but does anyone know if we've actualy signed Gomes yet? Because he's not on any of our squad lists.

I agree Bale and Gunter are

I agree Bale and Gunter are class and will do great things for Spurs but once they have both proven themselves in the premier league any money a top 4 club will come make an offer and bye bye Bale or Gunter and this will happen. We all thought Keane was a Lilywhite till the end but Liverpool come make an offer and all of a sudden our best player is off. I just hope Spurs can crack the top 4 before we lose some of our best players to top 4 wankers.
