Cisse and says this is the sort of transfer that could help Sunderland
avoid 'second season syndrome.'Cisse, a French international, will join the Black Cats on a season long loan initially with a vie to a permanent transfer.
The striker has Premier League and Champions League experience from his years spent at Anfield and will add a much needed attacking focal point for Roy Keane's side.
Since Kenwyne Jones' injury at Sunderland, fans have been worried about where the goals will come from as they look to consolidate their place in the Premier League.
And with signings like this they are worthy of their spot in the top tier. This is exactly what they need to avoid relegation and look to push on into the top half.
Roy Keane is finally flexing his muscles in the market and is understandable overjoyed at the signing. Ok, overjoyed might be a bit strong for Roy Keane, but you get the idea.
"We have made some good progress over the last few days and if we can get them over the finishing line then that's the end of my business," Keane said, as reported in The Times.
"All you can do is the best you can. I'm very relaxed about it. We have made some great offers, with some good deals, and we feel it would be a good move for the players involved. I have to trust the players to make the right decision.
"We didn't use the loan deal last year really. We had Jonny [Evans] who came in after Christmas, but this year we are looking at that. Of the deals I have mentioned two of those would be loan deals. There's one or two players we believe that people will say, 'I didn't see that one coming.'"
I am looking forward to seeing him in the Premier League and hope that Keane can pull off these other deals he is talking about.
Big names is what makes the Premier League so special and Roy Keane enticing Europe's finest is exactly what should be happening, its just a shame that it has taken his so long to get going this year.
But are Sunderland fans worried about the often hit and miss performances of Cisse, or do you think for a club of your size he will prove to be the perfect player?
