Football FanCast guest columnist Ged Peters
wonders if it's inconceivable that Middlesbrough
could be relegated from the Premier League.
If there is one side in the Premier League that has me
completely puzzled, then its Middlesbrough football
club. On their day brilliant, on another totally average, it must have Gareth
Southgate pulling his hair out let alone the supporters.
I find it really find it hard to fathom why Boro' find
themselves 3pts above the relegation zone. Having outplayed the likes of Manchester
United & Arsenal and then see them lose to the likes of Bolton
and Sunderland, it is a total mystery and you can hardly
say for certain that Middlesbrough won't be relegated.
It would be an absolute injustice if Boro' got relegated from the Premier League but we have to accept that it maybe a distinct possibility. I have lost count of the number of times I have predicted an outcome of a game, only to be either elated or thoroughly disappointed. We have two games to save ourselves and it certainly won't be easy. The atmosphere will be tense around the Riverside, especially against Portsmouth with their excellent away record.
Gareth Southgate for me has done an excellent job and produced a vibrant young side however we have to address the issue at hand. I just wonder given their inexperience whether they have a stomach for the fight. Have we paid for the lack of experience within the squad?
Should Southgate change the system for the last two games? Who would you play up front? Should we as Boro' fans be embracing the threat of relegation?
