David Gill insists that Fraizer Campbell is still a big part of United's plans, despite his loan move to Spurs and the reasoning behind both Saha and Silvestre moves away from Old Trafford.

Manchester United's chief executive David Gill says the club has no intention of letting promising striker Fraizer Campbell leave Old Trafford on a permanent basis.

The 20-year-old, who scored 15 goals in 37 appearances during a season-long loan switch to Hull City last term, sealed a loan switch to Tottenham for the rest of the campaign on Monday as part of the deal that saw Dimitar Berbatov move to United.

However, Gill said: "Fraizer has been a well-sought after young striker over the summer and we did receive offers from clubs wanting to buy him.

"We didn't want to sell though because we believe, and Sir Alex Ferguson believes, he has a great future ahead of him.

"Going on loan to a great club like Tottenham will give him experience in the Premier League and he'll come back a better player and hopefully force his way into the team here.

"So we're delighted with the deal - it's good for him and good for us."

United also sold Louis Saha and Mikael Silvestre last month to Everton and Arsenal respectively, with Gill adding on the club's official website: "Saha's departure was a decision that was taken by Alex, the player and the club.

"There were discussions over the summer with a few other clubs, but Louis liked what he heard when he met with David Moyes and decided Everton was where he wanted to go.

"Louis himself felt it would be good for him to have a new start at a good club like Everton. All we can do is wish him all the best and thank him for the service and goals he provided during his time here.

"Mikael had been with us for nine years, played over 300 games for the club and done fantastically well. He was out injured for most of last season and when he came back he wanted to play again.

"But as with Louis I think everyone felt it was the right time for him to move on to a new challenge."

As a spurs fan I hate this
As a spurs fan I hate this deal with a passion ! We take a second rate bit player (lets face it who wanted to buy him Hull and Wigan FFS!) to groom him for a club which frankly our relationship with is at best stone cold and then give him back so that they benefit again ... horrific ! If I was Peckhart and my employers were bringing in someone to take my place on a part time basis I would not be happy. Lets face it this deal was only done as otherwise we would be with only two strikers and the board screwed up as usual leaving them with no other option. Personally I hope he is a complete failiure and we ship him back up north at the earliest opportunity. Tottenham Hotspur having to loan in players whatever next ... maybe we should borrow some players from our neighbours next over at Ashburton and see how we all feel about that as this amounts to the same in my opinion .. crass management of the highest order. The comments from Gill also look about as credible as Levy's as were not Manure going to sell him to Hull or Wigan before the sulky ones deal was in Jeopardy ???? how do you know when a football chairman is lying.. he opens his mouth nuff said !

Daniel Levy and Damien
Daniel Levy and Damien Comolli are gutless spineless clowns and i am calling on all thfc fans on forums and especially down the lane against Villa to call for the immediate resigination of these two idiots. We signed nobody on deadline day, pavlyuchenko was signed on saturday and corluka deal was done two weeks ago,(held up whilst Hughes signed a replacement). We missed out on Arshavin because we was arguing over 3million, if we had sold Berbatov for 25m before the season start we would not have had him sulking around the place and we would have got our main transfer target. What happened is Man u have flexed their muscules and levy rolled over and had is belly tickled. Campbell is a good promising player but he is not even ours if he scores 15 goals it will only benefit united as it is not even a loan with a view to a permanent deal, we just have first option if he becomes available. the whole berba saga was a farce united wasnt given permission like liverpool but levy didnt have the balls to stand up to their bully boy tatics and accepted hush money. These are just a few reasons (i could go on) why I am calling for the resigination of these two idiots, do other spurs fans feel as let down as i do?

Mate, when you are putting
Mate, when you are putting your £30 million into the club, then it will give you the right to criticise. until then, button it. the fact that no one was signed on transfer day was that we had already done our business earlier in the window. I am not so sure that we do not already have at least 1st option on Frazier Campbell, but time will tell. Levy has been nothing other than a positive force for Spurs since arriving and (so called) fans like you just [*@!$] me off with your negativity. £20 million for Keane and £30 million for Berbatov has got to be seen as great business, considering that neither of them wanted to play for us anymore. What would you have done? put them in the reserves? Do me a favour! If I hear anyone chanting "Levy out" in the stands, they will be on their back before they finish. STOP FUCKING MOANING AND GET BEHIND THE TEAM!!!! COYS!!!!!

I totally agree with MVP
I totally agree with MVP levy and comolli have let us down missing out on arshavin for sake of 3m is a joke and does Camolli coming out saying we missed out on an experienced striker on deadline day meant to cheer us up when the striker in question is Heskey, do me a favour you have mugged the spurs fans off. As for you Dan the only thing you can put on their back is your mom, i hear she is used to that you mug

Have you actually looked at
Have you actually looked at the reality of what levy (i'm not sticking up for comolli as i'm not sure what he does) has been doing for us. Getting top whack for 2 very good players who DO NOT WANT TO PLAY FOR US & are 28 yrs old. Yes we have not signed a replacement yet, but i assure you come january we'll have plenty of money to spend on world class players. Let's get behind the whole of tottenham (including other fans) & stop moaning (for a f***ing change). Also don't go believing everything you read in The Sun!
