Football FanCast columnist Rob Facey reacts to the breaking news that Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted he may be moving to...hey, where are you going? Come back!

To the surprise of absolutely nobody Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he is close to announcing whether or not he will complete his dream move to Madrid in the summer soap opera that has kept everybody on their toes. It remains the story that nobody can wait to see end. In fact, nobody can even see the end it looks that far away.

"It is a dream, a step forward, you can call it what you want. For me it is a great opportunity, and as Scolari says, that train passes by only once, and we have to take advantage of it," Ronaldo told Sky Sports.

If he doesn't sign for Madrid in the coming weeks I'm sure half of England will be ready to take him to whatever train station he wants.

He also said that he doesn't mind if his decision upset the fans which is understandable, but it doesn't stop the fact that his protracted flirtation with Madrid has upset everyone else in Great Britain who likes football but doesn't want to witness such a horribly open relationship.

"It is my opinion that is why I don't mind if people get upset. It is my decision. It is what I want.

"You will soon know what I want. You do know what I want and that is why I don't want to say anything else. Let's wait. I want to give more details that is why I cannot say much more."

Ronaldo's transparent riddle will not fool anybody, although it might send them into a coma if this saga drags on any longer. It is such a shame that an incredibly talented player can not resist the temptation to hog the limelight.

The reason most football fans would like to see him stay is because with the ball at his feet he is a genius; the best player to grace the Premier League for years. With a microphone in front of his mouth, however, he is nothing more than a self obsessed bore.

He disappointed at Euro 2008 which is fine because players are only human and he has had a mammoth season at United in which he was the shining light. But that doesn't mean he now has the right to pimp himself across Europe and talk as if him leaving Old Trafford will see a grey cloud of depression linger over Manchester that will never leave.

STOP TALKING! JUST DO IT! NOBODY CARES ANYMORE!

I bloody hope so, it is ridiculous and it has turned into a drawn out pantomime. Im of the opinion that he dont want to stay so lets just hold out for top dollar with him.

Agree it has become
Agree it has become something of a farce and the sooner we cash in around £50m the better. I never felt the player was a part of United and his recent words all but prove it to me.
