Football FanCast columnist Jerome Johnstone cannot understand what gives Robin Van Persie the right to issue an ultimatum.

I have always found International football something of an enigma and never really bought into the hype and circus that seems to surround it. Games are rarely good, refereeing tends to be abysmal and it normally only takes 20 odd minutes before you start to channel hop.

The one thing I do like about it is that it tends to give you an insight in what your players are feeling about their respective football clubs and for one reason or another, happily choose random publications to let the world know of their views - do they honestly think it won't make its way to the English media?

Fernando Torres chose the Spanish press to slam the incompetence of Premier League defences, Cristiano Ronaldo chose some Brazilian publication of his desire to join Madrid and over the weekend Robin Van Persie decided to let those fans know (who pay his wages) that he may have to question his future at the football club if Arsenal sell anymore of their stars.

I have to say that I am not a huge fan of egotistical footballers and ones full of their own self importance. You look at the great players in the last 20yrs like your Dennis Bergkamp's, Gianfranco Zola's, Eric Cantona's or Jurgen Klinsmann's and they all carried themselves with an air of class and were never critical or would ever dream of spurting off about their employers. Could you ever have imagined Bergkamp questioning his own future, unless Arsenal did this or that - especially when you have spent most of your career like Van Persie has on the sidelines and hardly earned his keep there?

Maybe it is a generation thing and I should just accept that player power is ‘King', but I think it is wrong. Nobody is bigger than the football club, in my opinion, and if that is Van Persie's view then the Gunners should happily sell him - it would be interesting to see how many bigger clubs than Arsenal would take a chance on him.

NB – Jerome Johnstone is competing in our Bloggers Euro Championship so if you can give his article a rating in the voting box, it would be greatly appreciated.

I couldnt agree more. very
I couldnt agree more. very typical of a player who has a huge mouth and doesnt have the same class as Dennis. Every single year at the club his appearences have lowered so i wouldnt mind getting shot of him.

Absolutely right about
Absolutely right about Dennis who took pay cuts to stay at the football club. He understood what the football club was all about. Like Hleb and Flamini, we could do without players with attitude and those who fail to respect the football club.

Would get rid of him, vastly overrated anyway.

Completely agree, He's
Completely agree, He's suppose to be this great talent, but so far it looks like that talent is to obtain sick notes. Cash in and buy a player who can give more than a month on the pitch every season.

idiots, VP is one of the
idiots, VP is one of the best players in our squad. Hes never said anything even remotely anti-arsenal. Also why havent you quoted anything? where is your proof? probably because you've taken it out of context. Also what football fan channel hops after 20 minutes? i've watched every euro game so far because im a real "football" fan. Another thing, "it would be interesting to see how many bigger clubs than Arsenal would take a chance on him" almost every club in the world would take van persie. Dont delude yourself into thinking you're a real writer with opinions that match that of the masses because you are simply not. P.s. your automatic line breaks dont work

i find it annoying to read
i find it annoying to read articles with no quotes in them to show what was actually said. while i agree with what you say about player loyalty, i don't think that's the point here - there's one thing to say you want to play for another team, another to say that arsenal are at risk if they lose more players (which is a fair comment). RVP is quite straightforward but quite loyal, speaking his mind is ok and he does a lot less of it than other people (gallas comes to mind).

poor article; you've
poor article; you've succumbed to the usual C*** Offside/S***ingo trick of misquoting to propel your argument. If you want to do a hatchet job next time, do us all a favour and use some quotations; perhaps it's too much to ask that you include a link to the source of the interview as well? Look at the tripe attributed to Ljungberg last week some newspapers chose to run; disgraceful journalism, but not surprising. Had it been anyone other than an ex-AFC player, they would have been called a traitor and the calls for their severed head to be displayed on Traitor's Gate would have been deafening.

Whether he's been injured or
Whether he's been injured or not, he certainly is right as far as I`m concerned. Altimatum or not, i like people who tell it like it is when the media ask them questions. Van Persie is World Class, and if you dont want to put World Class (that will help him win things) around him, he may be right to go!

Absolutely right! nothing
Absolutely right! nothing worse than a rich spoilt brat. These guys just have life too bloody easy! Where is the respect for the fans in RVP making this comment while we are paying him his millions while he nurses his wounds on the bench? I think fans need to take a stand and maybe boycatt football until we get some respect. I know it will never happen but it would give these dudes a reality check.

Simba please, what the hell
Simba please, what the hell is wrong with this winning talk all the time. winning goes in cycles and only one team can win a competition however Arsenal are always in the thick of things. He has no right to say this, disrespectful. I think Wenger may have to change his style and be a little bit tougher on these players.
